Our Mission: power empowering people
The mission of the One Wheel Drive Initiative is to address inefficiencies and gaps in power usage in sub-Saharan Africa through appropriate technology. We aim to use the influence of standards and open-source innovation to enable an environment where energy can be harvested from off-the-grid, pre-existing sources (such as a bicycle, motorcycle, or generator) and be transferred to multiple and many power-consuming appliances (such as cell phones, mills, or cassava dryers). We hope to accomplish these goals through the use of a novel yet simple mechanical standard, an intermediary device we call a "linkwheel."
